Privacy Policy

We take data protection in the development of PhotoMap very seriously. There is great value placed on ensuring that only information is processed and stored that is needed for the realization of functions offered to users. If you have questions you can contact photomap@bischofs.eu.

PhotoMap uses external services to realize some functions. The following list is intended to create transparency about which data is transmitted over the Internet.

World map: The displayed maps are loaded via a programming interface of Google Maps™. Shown map sections are usually downloaded via the Internet from servers if they are not available offline.

Location names: A reverse geocoding service is used to determine shooting locations of photos. This is usually a service from Google. The geographical coordinates (longitude and latitude) of photos are sent to the service to determine place and country names.

Sharing: Photos are transmitted over the Internet or other communication channels (e.g. Email or Messenger) only when they are actively shared by a user via share function.

Positioning: The device's positioning services (GPS, network, etc.) are used to detect the current user position. This position is used to show it on a world map or to store it in photos taken.

Ads: The data for displaying advertisements is transfered via the Internet from a server. Other promotional efforts may also require the transmission of data. No personal data is transfered.

In-app purchases: Buying articles within PhotoMap requires a connection to servers from Google.

Crash notifications: After a crash of PhotoMap the user can agree to transfer a crash report (including error message, Android version, device name, etc.) to Google. This report is saved for analysis.

Cloud/network storage: PhotoMap can access files (photos, videos, etc.), that are stored on the Internet or on a network. This is not done before the user has not actively set up this type of access in the settings of PhotoMap. The connected storages are then scanned to find files that can be visualized in PhotoMap. Write access occurs only if, as for local files, geo positions have been changed, captions have been edited, copy operations have been started, etc.

Other Notes

Please take into account that shared photos may contain personal captions that can also be read by the receivers.

PhotoMap is able to modify position information and captions of media files. For various reasons there might be errors during this process, for which we can assume no liability. Please make regular backups to ensure that no files can get lost due to such errors.
